A Faith that Cannot be Shackled 鎖不住的信念

The painting is based on the artist’s own experience in a Chinese prison, where she was sent multiple times for practicing Falun Gong. In custody she was subjected to torture. While the figure in the painting is shackled physically, her faith and her sense of conviction remain unbowed and unsullied. Many a time during cruel maltreatment, it was as if an angelic presence was by her side, giving her courage. The painting was done with the use of transparent colors on silk.
